IBR #2 Deschutes Black Butte Porter

Rich. Smooth. Tiny little bit bitter at the back. Am I talking about Prince? No, not today. Today I'm talking about a classic of micro brews. So classic and successful that in my mind it shouldn't be considered a micro brew anymore. But what do I know. Anyway, it's the Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter.

This guy is a little heavy, and depending on what you've eaten just before, it can either be sweet and chocolaty or smooth with a little bitter at the end. I ate a cookie just before popping the top on this fine brew, so I caught the bitter part. Stupid Stupid Stupid.

You however, will be more clever than I, and will not eat a cookie just before. And you'll like it.

Recommended for the end of the day after a delicious savory meal. Should it be the "first beer" for someone who is unfamiliar with the ways of beer-dom? Depends on how adventurous they are. I'd say a 5 on a 10 point scale, where 10 is the best possible first beer.
